Unfortunately that doesn’t help at all. Any idea?

This is exactly what I have at the extra content:

.sidebar ul.sub-menu > li > a {
z-index: 22;
position: relative;
padding-left: 20px;
display: block;
}
.sidebar ul.menu > li:before {
top: 20px;
}

#navleft { max-width:none; width:100%; }

The last line has to do with a question about the width of the menu. Removing that line makes no difference.
