Hi, the background image you can change in WP admin -> Appearance -> Theme Options -> General -> Body -> Background Image. For the colors, I’m not sure what went wrong. Have you installed plugins? Mostly plugins cause these problems. Have you tried to change the colors in the theme options (WP admin -> Appearance -> Theme Options)?
